"Dacha"
... (da'-cha)
In
Russia, a dacha is a vacation home away from
the city, where family and friends go to
celebrate, rest and revitalize amidst
beautiful surroundings.
Dacha literally means "a gift." After the
revolution, the Russian government provided
small plots of land to city dwellers to build
small homes and cultivate their own vegetable
gardens. The dacha is a rich part of Russian
history and culture.
Dacha House is owned by a Russiaphile who has
traveled many times to that vast and beautiful
country and wanted to create her own dacha
here in the U.S. Built in the mid 1970's, the
Dacha House was converted into a
vacation rental and has been available for
romantic retreats and group getaways for
several years now. |
